Foaming in Recirc Chemical Toilets

Some electric pump recirc toilet units create foam so additional precautions are necessary to prevent this becoming a problem. A high pressure setting on the pump is the most obvious cause of foaming in the toilet cisterns. If possible reduce the pump setting. Small amounts of air sucked into the system through a slack joint, damaged pipework or worn impeller will also greatly increase the risk of foaming and soft water is more likely to foam than hard water. 

Safechem toilet additives Research 50 and Research 1000 are formulated for use in electric pump recirc toilets and already have Defoamer in them, however if foaming continues to remain a problem and the source of the problem cannot easily be identified, the addition of Safechem Defoamer to the tank will prevent foam from forming. Defoamer or an anti foaming agent is a chemical additive that reduces and hinders the formation of foam in industrial process liquids.

A defoamer is normally used in industrial processes to increase speed and reduce other problems. It addresses both problems with surface foam and entrained or entrapped air. Defoamers are suitable for applications that are water based where a high build up of foam is not desirable. A high build up of foam in a recirc chemical toilet cistern will cause it to choke and overflow
