Most waterless urinals require a liquid seal to operate. Urinal Sealant is specially formulated to allow liquid waste to pass through the trap and then seal it preventing sewer gases from rising and causing odours. Urinal Sealant is a viscous liquid with a strong reodourant and blue dye. Most waterless urinals that use this system require a dose of 125ml Urinal Sealant. A 5 litre bottle of Urinal Sealant will therefore charge 40 urinals making it economic in use.
A cartridge system typically contains half a litre of water and is topped with a Urinal Sealant liquid. This cartridge collects sediment and directs the flow of liquid waste to the drain while blocking odors.
The integrated-trap design does not use a cartridge. Instead it uses Urinal Sealant to separate the waste from the urinal bowl through a fixed basin trap or a trap built into the urinal body
